The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College by architect Frank Gehry is a wonderful place to visit for a summer opera or any kind of performance throughout the year. Located in the Hudson Valley only 1 1/2 hours from New York City and 30 minutes from Poughkeepsie in the picturesque town of Annandale on the Hudson.
There are two theaters and numerous studios. During the summer season, the Fisher Center produces SummerScape, one of the most ambitious and highly anticipated performing arts festivals in the country. In July and August, SummerScape comprises the annual Bard Music Festival (BMF) and seven weeks of opera, dance, music, theater, cabaret, and film related to the BMF’s theme, which focuses on a different composer each year.
Tours are available to the public Monday through Friday. Please call the Box Office at 845-758-7900 in advance to schedule a full building tour.
