Bach in the Subways Inspires Classical Musicians

Bach in the Subways
From New York City and Boston to Chicago and Los Angeles, Bach in the Subways takes place each year across the country for unique performances in public spaces by enthusiastic and talented musicians. Founder, Cellist Dale Henderson, appeared for the first time in 2010 in the subways of New York City, and now the movement has spread like wildfire across the U.S. and around the world as professional and amateur musicians are inspired and galvanized to perform Bach’s music in public places, including subway and train stations, malls, street corners and public buildings in public places near the date of the famous composer’s birthday.

The idea is to promote the playing and appreciation of classical music everywhere in all its forms and to allow classical music to be accessible to everyone in all stages of life. Instead of being relegated to classrooms or concert halls, Bach will be performed for free on the streets, public corners, libraries, public squares, meeting houses, subways and bus stops. Anyone can sign up and register to participate in this wonderful dedication to the composer and to classical music.
