Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze: Spooky and Fun Halloween Family Treat just Outside New York City

The wildly popular Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze returns in 2021, including Halloween night! It features over 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins set against the mysterious backdrop of Van Cortlandt Manor’s 18th-century buildings and riverside landscape.

Sleepy Hollow is a famous place any time of year! It has beautiful mansions, including Lyndenhurst and Kykuit the Rockefeller estate along with a cemetery of famous people, such as Brooke Astor, Washington Irving, William Rockefeller, Walter Chrysler and Elizabeth Arden.

That said, Halloween is the best time to visit as there is nothing more spooky and fun than the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze! The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving soaks the atmosphere as everyone looks nervously over their shoulders to check if the headless horsemen or Ichabod Crane is headed their way. Synchronized lighting and an original soundtrack add to the atmosphere. More than 1,000 volunteers help scoop, carve, and light the pumpkins and every single jack o’lantern is hand-carved on site by a team of professional artists.

Advance reservations required. For reservations: buy tickets online, no tickets will be sold on site. It runs through October 31; November 3-7; 10-14; 18-21., 914-366-6900. This all takes place at the Van Cortlandt  Manor, 525 South Riverside Avenue, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. In addition to the Hudson Valley location, there is a second Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze on Long Island at 1303 Round Swamp Rd, Old Bethpage, NY 11804. Adults $48, children 3-17 $40.
